A sudden situation can lead a good payer to end up being persecuted by collection companies. This is what happened to Albert, an entrepreneur from Barcelona who has managed to avoid repaying the bank 100,000 euros, a debt that he accumulated during the pandemic to keep his business afloat. “They can no longer claim this money from me,” he says on the “Pocket” podcast, which details step by step how to get rid of an unpayable debt.
A legal route that both individuals and companies can take advantage of and that the lawyer David Andrés Valencia explores in this new episode. But, although this is an option available to more and more debtors in Spain, there are certain requirements that must be met. “I want to change the car every year with a minimum income and I’m in debt. No, the second chance law does not offer this possibility,” he says by way of example. And he asserts that there are legal ways to “mitigate or limit” the responsibility of repaying a loan and not putting one’s own assets at risk when setting up a business.
