A 4-year-old boy was killed in Houston Friday, as more children around the city are being victim to gun violence.
Just before 2 p.m., officers were dispatched to an apartment block in the 600 block of Nottingham Oaks. The child was found with a gunshot wound on his leg.
The boy was transported in a private car to the hospital where he is now recovering. He is expected to recover. The child was playing outside the compound when he started screaming, KPRC TV reported.
There have been no arrests. The authorities have not yet confirmed if the child was the target of the attack and investigators are still trying to figure out what caused the shooting.
Gun violence continues to impact children in the city.
Police said that the shooting took place days after Arlene Lynette, 9 years old, was shot to death by a suspect. He allegedly fired into her vehicle believing the suspect who had robbed him seconds earlier was inside. Ashanti Grant, a 9-year-old girl, remains in hospital after being shot in the head while driving on a Houston freeway. This happened during a road-rage incident.
Darius Dugas was an 11-year old boy who was trying to retrieve his jacket from a car parking lot when he was struck and killed on February 4.
