The Madrid Ministry of Health has postponed the meeting with the 061 telephone service for health emergencies scheduled for April 25 to May 11 without giving explanations. The deputy minister of Health, the manager of Summa 112 and the strike committee were going to attend the meeting.

The almost 100 workers who offer this service have been on indefinite strike every Monday and Saturday for 24 hours for two months. These are specialist telephone operators, supervisors and the head of the service.

The workers of this service, who answer the calls of 061, denounce that they have the lowest salaries in all of Spain. They charge the minimum interprofessional salary (about 1,080 euros), when for example, public employees of the Community of Madrid who answer similar calls through 112 charge almost double. They demand that they be given various bonuses, such as an emergency or for going to Zendal, to reach a base salary of between 1,800 and 2,000 euros per month.

The workers of this service work for the company Ilunion, which acquired two companies: Servitelco Multiservicios and Servitelco, a special employment center that only hires people with disabilities.

The objectives of the strike are for the maximum annual working day to reach 1,550 hours, the elimination of the maximum medical hours, a base salary of 1,450 euros per month gross with 14 payments, a plus for transportation to Zendal of 300 euros per month, a emergency bonus of 300 euros per month and a three-year seniority plus of 80 euros per month. In addition, they request that the company put a bus to get to the Isabel Zendal Nurse Emergency Hospital, where they have to go to work, leaving from Legazpi and stopping at various points in the city.

In addition, they want a 3% salary increase according to the CPI or the one agreed by agreement to be included in the collective agreement as long as it benefits the employees more.

Vladimir Valentín, a member of the strike committee and secretary of the works council, explains that “Ilunion has requested the Community of Madrid, maintaining a legal path, to increase the award budget so that this increase can be transferred to the employees” . Now, both the company and the workers are awaiting the response of the Community of Madrid, chaired by Isabel Díaz Ayuso.
