A chilling event is reported by the Civil Guard of Valencia, which prevented a 61-year-old man from jumping off the balcony of his home in the town of Sedaví minutes after his daughter had gone to the barracks to report that she had been attacked by part of it.
According to sources from the Civil Guard, the young woman, aged 18, went to the barracks to report that she had been attacked by her father and was transferred to a health center in the town of Alfafar to be treated. She was finally treated at a hospital to better assess her injuries.
Minutes after the young woman’s testimony, the agents showed up at her father’s home to interview her father and arrest him. The man, who refused to leave the home, was out of his mind and threatened the agents with two large knives.
After trying to mediate with the man for more than 45 minutes, the agents decided to call for reinforcements, but the detainee threatened to take his own life and also that of the people who entered his home. He even sprayed the officers with gas through the door lock. The product was a suffocating gas with a chlorine base that is prohibited for sale and possession by individuals, the Armed Force clarifies.
Faced with this attack and upon hearing the noises inside the apartment, the agents decided to gain access by force to prevent him from falling off the balcony. The door was propped up by furniture and various belongings and, when the agents managed to access the interior of the house, the man was sprayed with gas and punched before trying to throw himself off the balcony.
The agents pounced on the man to try to stop him and thus avoid suicide, at which point the balcony railing broke. After a strong struggle, in which he tried to drag one of the agents into the void, they managed to subdue him. All the intervening agents had to be treated by the SAMU for gas inhalation, blows and abrasions.
The detainee, a 61-year-old man of Spanish nationality, is charged with the following crimes: disobedience, resistance, attack on a law enforcement officer and domestic violence. Once treated at the hospital, the detainee’s daughter formalized the complaint against him for domestic abuse, both physical and psychological.
Agents from the Paiporta company and Local Police patrols from the town intervened in the action to regulate traffic in the area. The proceedings have been delivered to the Court of First Instance and Instruction number 3 of Catarroja.
