The National Police have arrested a young man who barricaded himself in a house in the Almería town of El Ejido where he was holding a girl and threatened to explode several butane cylinders that he had prepared in the building.
As reported by the Provincial Police Station in a statement, the events began when agents from the Prevention and Reaction Unit (UPR) of the Local Police Station were commissioned to go to the area of ??El Ejido Sur, where a woman had to flee precipitously from her home when she was threatened with a knife by one of her children.
Upon arriving at the scene, the police officers met with this woman, who told them that her son, affected by the effects of drug addiction, had suffered a violent outbreak in the middle of an argument. The woman specified that she came to brandish a large knife and state that she had to kill her, for which she was forced to leave the apartment fearing for her life.
The complainant authorized the agents to enter the home after indicating that a friend of her son’s was also inside and that she was unaware of her situation. The Police verified that the front door had been barred and the young woman’s cries for help began to be heard from inside.
When trying to establish contact with the entrenched man, he threatened to explode some butane cylinders that he had prepared for the occasion, kill the girl and jump off the balcony. According to the Police, the strong smell of gas confirmed his intentions, so the agents proceeded to ventilate the landing.
Upon entering the home, the agents found the furniture arranged as a barricade, the knife with which the young man had threatened his mother and two butane canisters with the valve open. While the agents managed to reduce the man, the hostage managed to escape and she was evacuated from the place.
