In this photographic report in Las Fotos de los Lectores de La Vanguardia we can see the pairing of storks in Torres de Segre, Segrià region.

For days now we have entered the meteorological spring and the astronomical spring will soon arrive, it shows in the behavior of the birds. In this case, the storks, which are already mating and fixing the nest.

The storks, at the end of winter, migrate to the north of Europe and. when the cold arrives, they start the journey again towards warmer lands, but not all of them, some stay all year round in the lands of Lleida.

As an example, this data: From the 7,500 storks counted in Spain in the winter of 1995, there were more than 31,000 birds in the year 2004. And their number has been growing to this day.

The white stork (Ciconia ciconia) is a large bird species. Its plumage is mostly white with black on the wings. And the legs and beak of adults acquire a red color.

It measures an average of 100 and 115 cm from the tip of the beak to the end of the tail, and its wingspan can reach between 155 and 215 cm.
