Real Madrid entered the round of 16 of the Cup this Saturday night by beating Arandina at home, who played them without complexes and created difficulties for them in the first half. Ancelotti’s team showed that they are not going through a good moment. Madrid had the ball, but they lacked moving it fluidly and during the first half they created very few chances, which led to a very boring game.
With three youth players in the eleven, (Vinícius Tobías, Álvaro Carrillo and Nico Paz) the main novelty in Ancelotti’s eleven was the presence of the Turkish Arda Güler, who made his debut 160 days after his signing and together with Camavinga, who reappeared, was of the little salvageable against an Arandina red lantern from his Second Rfef group.
The first half went between yawns, with the Burgos team locked in their area. Madrid only had two shots, both from Güler, one of them hitting the post and the other saved by the local goalkeeper. At the last moment there was a header from Nico Paz that did not find the goal when the goal was already called.
The second half started with a little more intensity. After two first approaches by Arandina, a good chance came from Brahim, who forced the shot when Joselu was alone in the goalmouth.
In the 52nd minute came the key play. Zazo knocked down Brahim in the area and the penalty was converted by Joselu with a close shot against the post, the first penalty that Madrid has scored this season after missing the previous four.
The goal broke down Arandina. In the 53rd minute Brahim would score the second after a personal play. From then on, Madrid dedicated themselves to controlling the game and letting the minutes pass. Ancelotti removed Güler on the hour mark. Rodrygo, Valverde and youth player Mario Martín entered. Two new goals would arrive in addition. Rodrygo would make it 0-3 in the 90th minute and two later Nacho would deflect a shot from Cabral towards his goal that became the final 1-3.
