This afternoon we had a New Year’s gift with the arrival in Catalonia of the king of the skies, the Emirates A380, which we can see in La Vanguardia’s Readers’ Photos.

Finally, after so long, we now have it here and regularly. Much expectation at the Mirador de los Aviones in El Prat de Llobregat, which was full of girls and boys with their parents to see the magical moment of the arrival of the king of the sky.

This passenger plane is, to date, the largest in the world. It is the device with the highest passenger capacity that operates regularly in El Prat.

It is the first jet aircraft with two decks along its entire fuselage, unlike the Boeing 747, in which, although it also has two, the upper deck covers only the front part of the fuselage.

This plane has a maximum capacity of 853 passengers in a hypothetical high-density economy class configuration, although with the pandemic still in force this seems difficult.

Spotting is the observation and recording of aircraft. It is a practice so popular among photography lovers that they are called spotters. And, the El Prat de Llobregat airport is one of the best in the world for photographing airplanes.

It’s easy to enjoy landings and takeoffs of different aircraft models every few minutes. Around the airport there are at least three places, three large viewpoints, prepared to enjoy this spectacle. Each of them allows you to see the planes in a different way.

The area of ??stone benches is the most typical location and where there are the most people. For its part, the Mirador del Camí de Valencia is accessible on foot from the bench area. Another area is the tubular viewpoint. The last of the places to closely observe aircraft activity is the Mirador de l’Illa.
