Gisela, in the final stretch of her pregnancy

In November Gisela announced that she was expecting her first child. News that brought her great happiness, but also a lot of fear, after many attempts and two abortions. Now, that she has already completed seven months of pregnancy, the Catalan singer is calmer but she is “regulín”, because at the beginning of December she had to be admitted for renal colic and to avoid a kidney infection that could harm her and The baby was given a catheter that will have to be worn until the baby is born. “Since they gave it to me I have had pain, but luckily the pregnancy continues,” explains Gisela.

What there is no doubt is that pregnancy suits her well, as everyone who attended the opening of the Mimma Gallery store yesterday, specializing in sofas and lounging, in Las Rozas, in Madrid, and where the Catalan singer served as godmother, could see. . “In recent months, I have had to reduce my work commitments by half, as a precaution, but by posing in photocalls or doing interviews I keep my head busy and I don’t think about the risk,” Gisela explains to this newspaper about to take the Ave. to return to Barcelona.

“In addition to the catheter, I am catheterized, I have hematuria (blood in the urine) and anemia. Without forgetting my age because on January 1 I turned 45, so for me it was important to overcome the seven-month barrier, since birth is more viable, even if I am born prematurely,” she says. That is why her gynecologist has already warned her that she will not wait until April 20, which is when Gisela is due.

Once this seven-month barrier has been overcome, Gisela and her partner, José Ángel Ortega, have already started buying clothes for the baby and receiving gifts from family and friends. At the moment they don’t know the sex. “At first we did not want to get our hopes up and we preferred not to know, and we continue the same, although I have to admit that now I am curious and I don’t know if I will be able to wait for the birth. Maybe in the next review I will ask to know,” she laughs.

Since it is the opening of a sofa store, it is almost obligatory to ask her if she spends a lot of time sitting or lying down: “The first two months I had to rest completely and I went from the sofa to the bed and vice versa, but apart from this episode I am taking naps, watching concerts on YouTube and reading, especially now books about motherhood.”

Gisela has long been co-host of the program Com més serem on Canal Taronja, in which she interviews personalities from L’Anoia and currently also collaborates on OT al día (Amazon Prime), where current events at the Academy are reviewed. “It has made me remember my own experience in Operación Triunfo, an edition that was unrepeatable.” She adds: “I have shared some advice with the participants, but it is difficult to compare this edition with mine from 22 years ago: now the audience is younger and social networks play a very important role.”

Gisela Lladó is very active on social networks, where she publishes images of her work commitments and also of her life in El Bruc, where she was born and lives with José Ángel and their dogs in contact with nature: “Because of my work I have to publish on social networks, but if I dedicated myself to another job I would be more of a consumer of craft tutorials, for example.”

In 2001, Gisela was studying her second year of Journalism at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, ??when her life took a 180 degree turn, when she was chosen for the first edition of Operación Triunfo, that of Rosa López, David Bisbal and Chenoa, her great friend since then. She came in eighth, but touched by Disney’s magic wand. “I’m a born worker, but sometimes that’s not enough and you need a stroke of luck.” The animation production company chose her among the 16 contestants for the main theme of the soundtrack of the film Peter Pan and her return to Neverland. She was followed by Disenchanted, Barbie and Frozen. “My connection with Disney has been the most important thing in my professional life. And I hope it continues with Frozen 3.” she comments. Precisely with Frozen 2, she became the first Spanish singer to perform at the Oscars, because in 2020, the song Mucho Más Más más was nominated and Disney decided that all the singers who voice Elsa in the different languages ??would perform it.

In addition, Gisela has participated twice in the Eurovision Song Contest: in 2002 representing Spain, providing backup vocals for Rosa, and in 2008 for Andorra, although she did not qualify for the final. And he has starred in musicals (Boscos endins, Grease or Aloma), he has been a judge on Oh, Happy day (TV3), he has produced his own shows (Gisela and the magic book) and he has toured throughout Spain with a symphonic concert, with songs by Disney and Broadway musicals. “Friday, February 9 will be the last one, in Alicante, and then I will prepare, raise awareness…. and decide on the name.”
