Spain is known for being a country where many families opt for caravans for their camping holidays. However, it is the interest in campers that is constantly growing because they are versatile, compact and economically affordable vehicles. A good example of this is the GiottiVan 60B, a large-volume camper that has conquered the Spanish market with up to five sleeping places.
This boom in campervans is not reflected in their sales, since they have suffered from a lack of supplies and cannot meet market demands. A bottleneck that also happens in large volume campervans, protagonists in recent years thanks to one main feature: they have a bathroom with a shower inside.
For its construction, larger commercial vehicles are used, such as the Volkswagen Crafter (Grand California) or the Citroën Jumper / Fiat Ducato, as is the case with the unit we have tested. For this reason, its dimensions are greater than those of a Bulli, with 5.99 meters long, 2.05 meters wide and 2.63 meters high.
In this sense, the only drawback that limits the adventure is its height, since you will not be able to park it in most covered parking lots, as well as in some tourist areas with height restrictions. Luckily, the GiottiVan 60B is quite narrow, another aspect that tends to create suspicion among initiated campers.
Thanks to its two double beds you can travel with your family and even invite your little one’s friend, thus taking advantage of the fifth place overnight. We tell you how they have managed to optimize both the space of the GiottiVan 60B.
Giottiline is an Italian brand that belongs to the French group Rapido. In the world of caravanning there are also large groups, such as Stellantis or Volkswagen in cars, which respect the distinctive characteristics of each brand. For Giottiline, design is important, as is the quality of its furniture and practical distribution proposals.
To make this large-volume camper an interesting model, the designers have reduced the weight as much as possible to 2,904 kilograms, a quite favorable figure that is achieved thanks to the use of slatted furniture instead of conglomerate, as well as the installation of state-of-the-art integrated windows. All this makes it lighter, aerodynamic and efficient, three pillars when opting for this model.
With a 140PS 2.2-litre engine from the PSA group, and a six-speed manual gearbox, this GiottiVan offers smooth handling and a raised driving position that provides excellent visibility. In addition, it has additional features such as the Start system
As we mentioned at the beginning of the article, what makes the GiottiVan 60B a recommendable model is its modular cabin. The dinette, or dining room, can easily be converted into a single bed, for which we will need a pull-out module that takes advantage of the table and creates a transversal bed between the front seats and the kitchen cabinet.
In addition, it has two double beds placed transversely at the back, one on top of the other. This configuration minimizes the trunk space, something that they have compensated very well with furniture and cabinets in the living area that will allow us to travel with everything we need.
I was especially surprised by the spaciousness of the bathroom, which installs an 18-liter chemical toilet, a complete shower, and a mobile cabinet for cleaning. All this uses water from the clean 100-liter tank (100-liter gray water), so we can enjoy about 5 days of autonomy as a couple, or about 3 days if traveling as a family. In addition, it has a state-of-the-art Truma Combi 4 gas heating system, which guarantees comfort in all seasons of the year.
As for the kitchen, it comes equipped with a 135-liter refrigerator that includes a freezer and a separate area for bottles, an interesting solution that separates food and drinks in a comfortable and organized way. In summary, the GiottiVan 60B stands out for a thoughtful design and a set of features that adapt to the needs of travelers.
