Due to the strong and localized rains, this week, in Catalonia, we have been able to enjoy images like this impressive curtain of rain in L’Escala, photographed for Las Fotos de los Lectores de La Vanguardia.

It is a real meteorological pleasure to be able to observe these phenomena. In this case, the image was captured at five in the afternoon, between the sea and the mountains.

If a curtain of precipitation reaches the surface, it receives the name of Praecipitatio (this is an additional feature of the clouds, since they start from them).

When this precipitation evaporates and disappears before reaching the ground, it is called virga.

The instability will continue this Friday in the peninsula with the arrival of a new DANA (Isolated High Level Depression), with showers and storms that will be locally strong or persistent in the surroundings of the Central system, South plateau, west of the North plateau and in the northern half of the Valencian Community,

In Catalonia, cloudy skies are expected in the southern third and slightly cloudy in the rest, with daytime cloudiness in the Pyrenees. Showers are forecast that can occasionally go stormy in the morning in the south of Tarragona, where it is not ruled out that they are locally strong, and in the afternoon in the Pyrenees and Pre-Pyrenees.

Minimum temperatures unchanged; rising maximums in general, except in the south of Tarragona where no changes are expected. Northeast wind on the southern coast the first half of the day, decreasing to light; in the rest, light east and southeast wind.
