The General Servei company has closed the 2023 financial year with revenues of 19.8 million euros, recovering from the pandemic crisis and achieving results from the early 2000s. The company expects to increase this year’s results by 6%.

Based in Sant Andreu de la Barca, this family company is dedicated to providing packaging and marketing services for large distribution companies, which belong to the world of food, beverages, cosmetics, perfumery and cleaning supplies.

“We collaborate with large consumer brands, designing marketing actions through packaging and displays that are placed in supermarkets to attract the attention of consumers,” explains José Antonio Miguel Corbillo, CEO who has taken charge of the business. after the departure of the management of Amadeo Roigé, founder, president and owner of the company.

The company is proud to continue operating in the sector that saw its birth 50 years ago, when it began manufacturing packaging for a well-known milk brand. This activity for mass consumption companies represents 70% of the business, while 30% comes from the publishing division. “With the rise of digitalization, the publishing business has gone down but for many years it had been our main source of income,” says the CEO.

With 235 people on staff, the company is dedicated to designing and producing the packaging (folding, sewing, assembling) so that the printing of the items is carried out through third-party companies. The activity is concentrated mainly in Sant Andreu de la Barca and, to a minority extent, in Querétaro, Mexico, where the company opened a production plant in 2014. Despite this strong commitment, foreign sales account for around 10%. of your income. Mexico is a relevant market, and so are France, Belgium and other European countries.

The manager assures that the business is profitable, that it obtains an annual ebitda (gross profit) of between 11 and 12%. The resources are invested, if the opportunity arises, in acquisitions of third companies, as already happened before the pandemic, when absorbing a Catalan SME in the sector.

In addition, the company allocates 4% of its annual turnover to R&D. It currently invests these resources in automating functions through collaborative robotics elements that improve productivity.
