'Gen V' rules out finding a replacement for Chance Perdomo after his death

Actor Chance Perdomo died on March 30. It was a tragedy for an actor who, at 27, stood out in Hollywood for his work in Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and Gen V, where he was expected to continue in the main cast. And, after a few weeks of reflection and looking for creative solutions to the tragedy, the producers of the superhero series have already announced that they will not be looking for an actor to replace him.

“As we continue to navigate the tragic loss of Chance Perdomo, everyone at Gen V is determined to find the best way to pay tribute to his memory,” they reported in a statement online. “We will not be casting again for the role because no one can replace Chance,” they have said of the actor.

In the first season, Chance Perdomo played Andre Anderson, a student at Godolkin University designed for the superheroes of the future, young people with special abilities and potential to be taken advantage of by Vought International, the company that manages these humans.

With his magnetic abilities, he was proving to be a dangerous young man. In the pilot he was responsible for the accidental death of a girl in a nightclub, which he tried to cover up at all costs. But he also turned out to be a point of support for Marie Moreau (Jaz Sinclair), a newcomer to the institution, and someone willing to seek the truth about a university where not everything is as it seems.

“We have taken the time and space to rework the plots of the second season now that we begin production in May,” they indicated about the new episodes produced for Prime Video. It can’t have been easy: Perdomo’s character Andre was part of the main plots. How they will justify his absence, however, is something they have not yet revealed.

The actor died as a result of a motorcycle accident while driving through New York state. “His passion for the arts and his insatiable appetite for life were felt by all who knew him, and his warmth will live on in those he loved most. We respectfully ask that the family’s desire for privacy be respected, as they mourn the death of loss of his beloved son and brother,” his representatives and his family reported after the tragic news was announced.
