The Council of Ministers has approved today, at the proposal of the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, the free provision of all Renfe rail services for the victims of the Valencia fire. Thus, starting tomorrow, Wednesday, February 28, any victim or first-degree relative will be able to travel by train to and from Valencia city at no cost.

It is one of the measures of the aid package that the Executive approved this morning. The objective of this measure, which is valid for three months, is to help facilitate the mobility of those affected in these difficult times. The initiative is part of a package of measures approved today by the Government to help the victims of the fire in the Campanar neighborhood of Valencia, to whom it reiterates its solidarity and empathy. Likewise, regarding the conventional Cercanías and Media Distancia services, which are already free for regular travelers, Renfe will provide a subscription at no cost to whoever requests it to travel to or from the city of Valencia.

To travel by train for free, affected people and their families must contact the “Attention Point” (one-stop shop for the Valencia City Council), an organization that will establish contact with the Renfe teams in Valencia, so that from this Office will provide you with tickets.

Other measures already implemented are the Special Documentation Unit to expedite as much as possible the issuance of duplicates of the National Identity Document free of charge. In addition, the Provincial Traffic Headquarters of Valencia, in collaboration with the General Directorate of Traffic, will enable a special telephone number for the issuance of duplicate driving licenses.

Likewise, those affected by the fire will be able to go to the Property Registry number 5 of Valencia to obtain information and to have certifications for their properties issued in order to prove the ownership of all the homes that have been destroyed in the fire.

Finally, in the event that among the people affected by the fire a female victim of any type of violence is detected, the department will find a way to provide urgent and specific care, always in collaboration with the Generalitat Valenciana.
