Los del Río, Azúcar Moreno and David Civera will provide music to the Pradera at the San Isidro 2024 Festival, which will be celebrated this year from May 10 to 15 with a program of activities for different tastes and ages that focuses on tradition popular traditional Madrid.
The proclamation from the balcony of the old Town Hall in the Casa de la Villa will be starred this year by singer David Summers from Hombres G.
The parade of giants and big heads will also take place; the pilgrimage in the Pradera de San Isidro; the vermouth dance; the traditional parade; the tribute of the regional houses to San Isidro, or the Madrid Dance Festival.
Although most of the scheduled events will be held in the usual places, such as the Plaza Mayor, the Jardines de las Vistillas, the Pradera de San Isidro and Matadero Madrid, there will also be activities in the city’s districts, as well as in theaters and centers municipal.
La Pradera de San Isidro is the most characteristic place of these festivals and will host numerous family shows and a lot of music with performances by artists and groups such as Los del Río, Azúcar Moreno, La Verbeníssima, Nancys Rubias, Natalia Ferviú, David Civera, La Mare , Pedro Pastor, Maximiliano Calvo, Russian Red, Ona Mafalda and Sevilla Distorción. In addition, there will be DJ sessions by Sofía Cristo and El Cuerpo del Disco.
For its part, the Plaza Mayor will be filled with popular music with the presentation of dance groups and the traditional tribute of the regional houses to San Isidro.
In addition, the 40th edition of the Madrid Dance Festival will be held, where the five participating associations will show the two expressions of folklore that Madrid represents, the Bolera or Goyesco School and Castilian music and dance.
The third edition of Bailando por Madrid will also take place, an authentically traditional parade where chotis, pasodobles and java will be danced through the streets of the center.
Performances will also include Mari Pepa de Chamberí, Olga María Ramos, Diana Navarro, Karmento, Antonio José and the Ballet Flamenco de Granada dance company. The Madrid Municipal Symphonic Band will offer a selection of Spanish symphonic music. In addition, Cadena Dial will offer the Vive Dial concert, with prominent pop artists in Spanish such as Álex Ubago, Blas Cantó, Vicco, Bombai, Ana Guerra and Gonzalo Hermida.
On the stage of the Jardines de las Vistillas, traditional tradition will merge with the most current musical trends. Activities will include workshops, distribution of carnations, children’s performances and traditional dances. In addition, the Re-inventando Chulapos contest will be held, where young designers will reinterpret the chulapa and chulapo costume, culminating with a parade and the selection of winners.
The Jardines de las Vistillas will host performances by The Gramophone All Stars Big Band, Ralphie Choo, Ella Baila Sola, Los Punsetes, Ombligo and Queralt Lahoz. In addition, Miguel Ángel Sutil, GAZZI, 1st Degree and Diskoan will liven up the atmosphere with their well-known DJ sessions.
For its part, it will not miss its annual event, the Rock Villa de Madrid Awards to continue giving visibility to new talents. The Culture, Tourism and Sports Area, in collaboration with Radio 3 and the Society of Artists, Interpreters and Performers (AIE), organizes these awards.
The winners will perform on May 14. The women’s groups have once again stood out in an edition that has once again broken the participation record with more than 1,320 registrations.
In addition, this year Matadero Square will be the scene of a festival featuring popular music, games and dancing, with two large orchestras, Nuevo Versalles 2024 and Atlántida Show, which will offer a repertoire for all ages.
Artists such as Glossito and DJ Selectya Glossy will also take the Matadero stage. And the Mad Cool festival will return to San Isidro with a lineup full of surprises in this same space, which will also be occupied by Zona Bruta, a seal of urban culture and rap.
Under the title ‘Mataderas’, the diversity and integration of urban art with a feminine focus will be celebrated. At this meeting, artists such as Arianna Puello, Sara Socas, Faena, Canchalera, Elane and Santa Salut will share their talent with the public.
Once again this year the programming will have various accessibility measures, such as interpretation in sign language or subtitling in concerts by artists of the stature of Karmento or Antonio José, in addition to vibrating backpacks and hearing aids for deaf people.
The vibrating backpacks will also be available to those who come to Las Vistillas to enjoy Los Punsetes (performed in Sign Language) and at the Matadero concerts. In addition, the San Isidro festivities will have Violet Points within the framework of the municipal prevention campaign ¡Ni Una! against sexual violence.
