The Mossos d’Esquadra of the Arenys de Mar Police Station (Maresme) arrested three men aged 20, 32 and 44 respectively last Tuesday, and two days later a fourth man aged 60, as alleged perpetrators of a crime of extortion. They allegedly threatened a debtor and violently attacked him.
On March 5, a man reported that for a few weeks he had been suffering extortion from a man to whom he owed money as a result of the suspension of payments of his company of which he was the owner. In the first meeting with this person, he showed up with two other men, demanded payment of the 1,000 euros he owed him, showed him a gun and threatened to kill him.
The next day, the victim made the payment of the 1,000 euros, but they demanded another 10,000 and threatened to kill him again if he did not pay. Here there was also an altercation in the middle of the street in which several neighbors intervened. According to neighbor sources, the discussion occurred between self-employed professionals, one of whom was a painter.
After this last incident, the victim reported the events at the Mossos d’Esquadra Police Station in Arenys de Mar and, given the seriousness of the events, on the same day a police device was set up that ended with the arrest of the three alleged perpetrators of the attack. extortion. When searching the detainees’ car, the firearm was located, which turned out to be simulated.
The detainees were brought to justice on March 7. At the same time, the agents arrested a fourth person related to the extortion and issued a search and arrest warrant to arrest a fifth person who also participated in the criminal acts.
