Found in France the body of a fisherman who disappeared in November

The body of the fisherman from Santoña who disappeared in Laredo last November when the small boat in which he was sailing with another person capsized was found in France in December, although his identity has not been confirmed so far, EFE reported this Saturday. Civil Guard.

According to the same sources, on December 24, just over a month after the disappearance of the fisherman, a body was found in French waters whose identity has just been confirmed to the Civil Guard of Cantabria.

This is Luis Fernández, who disappeared on the coast of Laredo, near the tunnel, in the early hours of Sunday, November 20, when he was fishing with another man and his boat capsized.

The comparison of the information entered in the databases has made it possible to obtain confirmation that it is Fernández, according to sources of the investigation.

Due to the shallowness of the area where the boat was located, the two headed for the shore with water up to their waists, but the waves carried Luis Fernández away.

The other occupant of the boat was the one who warned and asked for help after going through the tunnel.

The emergency services unsuccessfully deployed a search device in which air and sea resources participated despite the poor state of the sea on the Cantabrian coast, then on orange alert due to adverse coastal phenomena.
