Foment del Treball considers that “it is not an acceptable policy” that the return of the companies that removed their headquarters from Catalonia during the ‘process’ should be based on sanctions or fiscal incentives. In a similar line, the Chamber has spoken through its president Josep Santacreu.
Foment, against the condition posed by Junts to approve the three Government decrees that will be voted on in Congress tomorrow, has stated that “institutional normality and the creation of a favorable economic climate are the necessary context to favor the return of those companies that left if they consider it necessary.”
For his part, the president of the Barcelona Chamber, Josep Santacreu, has stated that “it is difficult for him to understand that there is a position of being able to penalize.” “We have to do everything we can, and the more positive, the better,” he added. at a press conference this Tuesday, and recalled that the objective must also be to consolidate the business structure of large Catalan companies.
For its part, Pimec is in favor of encouraging companies to locate their headquarters in the place where they carry out their activity, to promote the return of those that left Catalonia for political or fiscal reasons. The objective, they add at Pimec, is to “end fiscal dumping” between autonomous communities and encourage the return of companies, the Catalan employers’ association has assured.
For his part, the president of the CEOE, Antonio Garamendi, rejected Junts’ proposal this Tuesday and warned that “this is called communism” and defended that the “magic recipe is to give stability” and “predictability” to businessmen.
This is how Garamendi expressed himself at an informative lunch organized by the Club Siglo XXI, where he commented that “a company settles where it wants.” Furthermore, he maintained that “no one left Catalonia because it seemed like a great idea,” but rather that they did so because “they were forced” due to the current situation.
