“We must burn a lot of things and at the same time tidy ourselves up a bit, to move towards a better society”, under this premise Vic Moliner has produced Foc i endreces, the fourth album by this multifaceted soft-spoken musician that goes on sale today after giving to know Art i Decorat in the previous weeks.
Bassist, double bassist and producer, Vic Moliné proposes in his new album a journey through these two actions, fire and order, so necessary and that we often do less than is appropriate. From the claim of a more social-political nature, metaphorically expressed through fire (foc) and the burning of things that hurt us, to introspection, self-knowledge, thinking and laughing at oneself, represented through action to order (endreces). “We have to burn a lot of things and at the same time tidy up a bit, to move towards a better society, to live fuller lives.”
This new album will be accompanied by the first book of poetry by Vic Moliner, which will appear in the spring by Edicions Tremendes. There will be 19 unpublished poems to which will be added the ten interspersed songs on the album -two of which are already poems recited with music. Part of these unpublished poems will also be included in the concerts to present the album, the first of which will be held on March 11 in the Ateneu de Banyoles auditorium. In addition to this date, for now, those of April 16 at the Jazz Cava de Vic and July 28 at El Pati de Can Gil, in Corçà, have been confirmed.
Vic Moliner’s career combines composition with production, especially prolific in recent years thanks to the collaboration of Clara Peya, with whom he has produced the last 6 albums and with whom he has toured stages throughout Europe for more than 10 years. The result of this joint effort is the Enderrock Award for Best Album of 2018 for El Estómac. In addition to the pianist, he has also produced together with Guadi Galego, Magalí Sare, Paula Grande, Anna Ferrer, Daura Mangara, Agnès Algueró and David Mauricio. Other notable tours in which he has participated are The Gramophone Allstars Big Band, Vega (by Paula Grande and Anna Ferrer), Guadi Galego, Magalí Sare and the Xavi Torres Trio, a group with which they won first prize in the Dutch Jazz Competition.
