Authorities in Florida have announced Monday that a fire chief was accused by the victim of shooting dead a shop owner following a dispute about a business deal.
According to the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office, Brian Keith Easterling was taken into custody on suspicion of murder during Sunday’s shooting.
According to the sheriff’s Office, surveillance video showed Easterling entering the shop and shooting at the 63-year old man.
According to the sheriff’s office, the man was not publicly identified. He allegedly owed Easterling money.
It was not even identified.
Easterling was taken into custody at Holt’s home and is currently awaiting extradition to Okaloosa County.
Officials with the Baker Fire District suspended him from his duties Monday. Assistant Chief Mark McKenzie was then appointed acting chief, McKenzie stated in an interview.
McKenzie claimed that he knew Easterling for 10+ years and was unaware of the allegations.
