I share in La Vanguardia Readers’ Photos this snapshot that I took with my cell phone last weekend when I went to the Montsec mountain in Lleida, next to the Terradets reservoir.

Climbing the mountain there was a moment when, admiring the landscape, I realized that we were above the clouds. A sea of ??clouds had formed and we were floating in them.

The territory of Montsec brings us to the doorstep of the Pyrenees and, in the Catalan part, covers the region of La Noguera and the southern end of the region of Pallars Jussà.

This mountain range, protected as an Area of ??Natural Interest, forms a calcareous mountain range about 40 km long, with a total area of ??186.96 km², halfway between Lleida and Huesca.

The great gorges will not leave us indifferent, such as Montsec de l’Estall (or Sierra de Montgai) in Aragon, with 1,331 meters, and Montsec d’Ares and Montsec de Rúbies in Catalonia.

The main adventurous journeys pass through the Terradets gorge (on the national road from Tremp to Balaguer) and along a track between Sant Esteve de la Sarga and Ager, which gives access to Sant Alís. In addition, from Balaguer you can access beautiful towns in southern Somontano, such as Ager and La Baronia de Sant Oisme.
