The President of the Principality of Asturias, Adrián Barbón, has advanced this Monday that five complaints will be filed after many other people have been identified as “presumed guilty and responsible” for some of the fires registered in the community, which has seen more burned of 20,000 hectares of land in recent weeks, according to the first estimates.
The head of the regional Executive has also added that work is being done on other lines of investigation, still in the initial phase, which “could affect ten other suspected suspects.” “I only know the numbers, I don’t know any more information” about those suspected of setting fire to the mountain, he stressed after stressing that it is a matter that “is going to be prosecuted.”
After warning that Asturias is experiencing an “attack” in which “there is clearly an intention to cause harm”, the president thanked the coordinated work carried out by Seprona agents and members of the fire investigation brigades (Bripas ), which is leading to “research advances”.
During the morning there were 41 forest fires in Asturias, with six sources of “special difficulty”, although the number is expected to decrease throughout the day, the president added after participating in a meeting of the advisory and management committee of the Emergency Civil Protection Plan for Forest Fires in the Principality of Asturias (Infopa).
The Asturian Government will announce this week, foreseeably on Friday, the three lines of aid that it will implement to compensate for the damage caused by the fires, to reforest burned areas and to improve the “self-defense” of the towns, the president has detailed.
Barbón, who has valued the work carried out over the last few days by the firefighting teams, has stressed that the Executive has created this legislature positions to reinforce the firefighters workforce and is working on “technical improvements”, a line of work that “is going to continue”.
