The Civil Guard has arrested the five members of a group specialized in robbing inhabited homes in towns in the provinces of Valladolid, Segovia, Salamanca and Ávila and also in the Community of Madrid.

As reported this Wednesday by the Civil Guard Command in Madrid, within the framework of the operation called Hábitat Rondón, four men and a woman have been arrested accused of crimes of integration into a criminal group and robbery with force in inhabited houses , reports Efe.

The leader of the group had been in Spain since 2018 and the other four members had arrived from Colombia “expressly to carry out the robbery campaign”, the Civil Guard has confirmed.

The investigators began the investigations last March, when the number of complaints of robberies in homes in various towns in the Community of Madrid increased.

After several inquiries, the agents found that the group had previously selected the homes, their targets being chalet-type houses located in upper-middle-class neighborhoods.

Once the house was chosen, they accessed the interior of it through rear doors or windows and took all kinds of valuables, such as jewelry, watches, electronic devices, computers, and cash.

Although the specific number of robberies committed is not known, the agents have managed to prove their involvement in crimes of this type in homes located in the Community of Madrid, such as Arroyomolinos, Cercedilla, Nuevo Baztán, Guadarrama, El Álamo or Griñón, and in other provinces, such as Salamanca, Valladolid, Segovia and Ávila.

The Civil Guard has carried out four home searches, two in the capital Madrid and another two in Parla, and a large number of effects, a vehicle and cash have been recovered.
