Five traffic accidents in Cantabria, Valencia, Madrid, Alicante and Barcelona complicate circulation in the August 1 Operation that the General Directorate of Traffic (DGT) has launched and in which it is expected to exceed 8.7 million displacements.

As reported by the General Directorate of Traffic (DGT) at around 6:30 p.m. this Friday, there are also delays at the exits of Madrid and Barcelona and in Murcia, Malaga and Seville.

Several accidents slowed down road traffic this Friday afternoon, including a hit on the A-8 near Castro-Urdiales (Cantabria) towards Santander and another accident on the A-7 in Bétera (Valencia).

At the Madrid exit on the A-1 in El Vellón, on the A-70 in the Alicante neighborhood of Ciudad de Asís towards Murcia and on the AP-7 in Subirats (Barcelona), towards Tarragona, two accidents have also taken place that have caused complications in traffic.

In addition, the DGT warns of traffic jams in various areas of the road network as a result of this exit operation, especially at the exit from Madrid: on the A-42 in Parla, on the A-5 at Arroyomolinos and in the A-6 as it passes through Galapagar.

At the exits from Barcelona, ??traffic is also congested on the AP-7 at Gélida and Montornés del Vallés. There are also traffic jams at the entrance to Murcia, on the A-7 in El Puntal, and on the AP-7 in Estepona (Málaga) towards Cádiz and on the AP-4 near Utrera (Seville), towards Cádiz.

Traffic will keep the surveillance device active on the occasion of Operation Departure on August 1 until midnight next Tuesday, a period in which the movements of vehicles generated by the beginning of the August holiday month are expected to coincide on the road. long-distance journeys in the direction of departure from large urban centers, with return journeys for those who finish their holidays in the month of July, together with the usual departure/return journeys on summer weekends.

In addition, the DGT has designed a special device in view of the foreseeable increase in road trips that are expected in the coming days on the occasion of World Youth Day (WYD) in Lisbon, which is celebrated from August 1 to 6, with the presence of Pope Francis, and which expects to gather more than 1.5 million pilgrims, more than 750,000 of them Spanish.
