Rail traffic between Vic and Ripoll was interrupted by a catenary failure that affected Rodalies line R3. Four crews from the Generalitat de Catalunya Fire Department evacuated 165 passengers who were trapped on a train between Manlleu and Torelló (Osona) “so that they can safely leave the wagons” until they reach the buses established by Adif to continue the journey, towards nine at night. Shortly after 11:00 p.m. on Tuesday, traffic between Ripoll and Torelló was restored, continuing to be interrupted between Torelló and Manlleu.
Civil Protection has activated the pre-alert phase of the Ferrocat railway emergency plan, after the infrastructure management company, Adif, has reported that due to problems with the catenary, line R3 had to be cut in both directions in this section and that For now, it works to solve this incident “in the shortest possible time”.
As reported by Renfe, the incident took place at a quarter to eight at night and an alternative road service has been arranged to guarantee the mobility of affected users. The train is stopped about 500 meters from the Torelló station.
This is the same line on which a few weeks ago a fire and a chain of small explosions in the catenary just above a parked convoy in Manlleu left some 300 users without a train.
As reported by Renfe, there has been another train affected, but this one has stopped at the same station, for which reason the intervention of the Fire Department has not been necessary to evacuate them.
In Vic, the rain has forced the emergency services to carry out twenty actions due to flooding of the ground floor and streets. On the afternoon of this Tuesday there was an intense storm in the central area of Catalonia.
