Felipe VI, who studied a master’s degree in International Relations between 1993 and 1995 at Georgetown University, has met with a delegation of students and alumni of this academic center, which has a program with the Complutense University of Madrid and the Pontifical University Quotation marks.
Almost three decades have passed since Felipe de Borbón completed his studies at Georgetown, and during these years, first as Prince of Asturias and since 2014 as King, he has kept in touch with this bicentennial institution by participating in different celebrations and meetings. “I carry this institution in my heart and mind and it contributed to my personal and intellectual education in such a way that I will always be grateful and honor it,” said the King, at a meeting held in September 2015 in Georgetown, a of the most selective universities in the United States.
On its Washington campus, young people from all over the world have been trained, including some illustrious names. Bill Clinton, who was president of the United States when Felipe de Borbón was studying there, was also trained at this center. In fact, two days before his graduation, Felipe accompanied his parents, Kings Juan Carlos and Sofia, to visit Clinton and his wife, Hillary, at the White House. The good harmony between the King and the Democratic politician is well known.
This Friday, before receiving the Georgetown delegation, Felipe VI the king held three other audiences at the Royal Palace. The first two, to the latest promotions of the Superior Corps of Technicians of the Social Security Administration, and the State Corps of Civil Engineers, Canals and Ports. Next, the King met with the Board of Directors of the Spanish Radio and Television Corporation.
