Certainty, moderation and stability. This is what the president of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, has offered to a large representation of businessmen, ambassadors and other social leaders, during a conference at the Europe Forum, in which he has announced the first ten measures that he will adopt in the first days of government, if he becomes president of the Government.
A smaller government, tax cuts for the middle and lower classes, a law on the Judiciary to guarantee the independence of the Council and that of judges, magistrates and prosecutors; to recover the crime of sedition, or the fight against gender violence, will be some of the measures.
But Alberto Núñez Feijóo shelled them one by one. First, the promise that “citizens will pay less for their government” because it will be a smaller government. In the last few days he has fixed that executive in 13 ministries, although at today’s informative breakfast he did not dare to do so much.
The president of the PP promises more: That the Spanish will know the situation of the country, and will know in detail the accounts not only of the central administration, but also of the local administration, of the regional administration, and the accounts of the Social Security, because Only knowing the situation will they be able to understand the measures that are adopted.
Thirdly, the popular leader promises that the Spanish “will pay less taxes in 2023”, since he will proceed with the reduction of the IRPF for 2023 that he already requested from Pedro Sánchez from the opposition, deflating the rate. It will be a reduction that will affect medium and low incomes.
At the legislative level, the president of the PP assures that the first laws that he will approve will be to recover the crime of sedition and reinstate the penalties that existed before for the crime of embezzlement, and that the Sánchez government lowered it so that ERC would approve it the budgets.
In addition, Alberto Núñez Feijóo undertakes that in the first 100 days of Government, the Council of Ministers approves a draft organic law of the Judiciary, which guarantees the independence of the General Council, and the independence of judges, magistrates and prosecutors.
Another commitment of the president of the PP is “the fight against equality and gender violence”, which will be transversal”, he assured. After the controversy over the agreement signed in Valencia between the PP and Vox, Núñez Feijóo was used this Monday to leave clear his position on this matter.”In sexist violence, not a step back. It will not even occur to me to deny it, nor to make laws to leave women unprotected” as happened with the law of yes is yes.
A message, he said, in case it was not clear, that it is directed, “both to the left”, which has criticized him so much these days, wanting to make it clear that with the PP in the Government the fight against gender violence was in danger ” , as for “those who call themselves right”. Feijóo translates his position into a sentence: “Neither laws like the yes is yes, nor are we going to deny or stop fighting against gender violence.”
The seventh measure that Feijóo will take in the presidency of the Government will be to call the social agents, to make social dialogue possible and listen to their proposals, since he intends, from the Government, to encourage social dialogue and favor agreements.
The eighth has great significance, since it no longer speaks of repealing the Democratic Memory, but rather says it in another way: “It will review one by one the laws in which Bildu’s vote has been decisive for its approval.” The intention, “to verify that these laws conform to the Constitution”, in clear reference to the Law of Memory, or the Housing Law.
In ninth place, the president of the PP will convene a conference of regional presidents to set a schedule for action and collaboration between the central government and those of the autonomous regions. On the horizon of that Conference, three objectives: European funds, water policy and the new financing system that must be approved.
The last of the measures that Feijóo pointed out is that of the European presidency, which “will be a matter of state”, which means, he stressed, that “the leader of the opposition will not hide” neither the agenda nor the objectives , nor what the Government intends to do, contrary to what it assures has happened now
