Alberto Núñez Feijóo has once again entrusted the electoral campaign to the one who was the director of the 28-M campaign that has given him his first victory in statewide elections. Elías Bendodo, general coordinator of the PP, will once again be in charge of the PP campaign for July 23.

Along with Bendodo, Feijóo has appointed people of his complete confidence for his campaign, especially the entire team that he brought from Galicia, from his chief of staff, Marta Varela, who will be in charge of the Candidate’s Office, to Mar Sánchez, Luis de la Marta or Marcos Gómez, all of them his collaborators in the Xunta and who will be in charge of public projection, communication and content.

In addition, the president of the PP has entrusted his general secretary, Cuca Gamarra, with the coordination of the electoral program, together with a deputy coordinator, also from the team closest to Feijóo since he was in Galicia, Álvaro Pérez. Along with them, he has appointed a drafting team, with the people he most trusted in the popular leadership: Juan Bravo, Carmen Fúnez, Esteban González Pons, Montse Iglesias and Pedro Puy.

The writing team of the program will have the assistance of the Fundación Reformismo21, set up by Feijóo to replace the one that his predecessor, Pablo Casado, had created. In addition, the president of the Foundation, Pablo Vázquez, has been commissioned by the president of the PP to prepare an agenda for the first 100 days of his mandate, if he wins the general elections.

Alberto Núñez Feijóo has also used a person of his greatest confidence, Miguel Tellado, who was the general secretary of the PP of Galicia during his presidency, and is currently the deputy secretary of Organization of the PP, for the preparation of the lists. During this year, Tellado has visited all the party headquarters in all the territories several times and has completed the renewal of the regional leaderships, before naming candidates for 28-M, with good results obtained even by people who had been designated a few months earlier.

All these appointments culminate with another of Feijóo’s star signings in recent months, presented as a shock and the confirmation that “those who had gone home” were returning to the PP for this new stage. This is Borja Semper, who will be, as on 28-M, the campaign spokesman.

With these appointments, the president of the PP makes it clear that he is not going to lose a single day to prepare the campaign, and just four days after the president of the Government called the elections, he has already designated his team, which he has commissioned to put on to work immediately. There are barely 50 days left until the elections and Feijóo wants to have everything ready to start the pre-campaign next week.

Feijóo intends, with this speed, to take advantage of the party’s enthusiasm for the results obtained on 28-M, and for them to truly believe that it is possible to win the general elections that, sources from the popular leadership affirm, have to fight “strongly for forceful change in Spain”.

The president of the PP has commissioned the editors of the program to prepare the program in contact with civil society, because it is about approaching the problems of citizens and giving them solutions, for which he wants to listen to all sectors, and For this reason, he has also asked the Foundation to help with their contributions, since they have been working on these issues since it was launched in March.

Regarding the lists, the president of the PP intends to combine experience and renewal, to present, according to management sources, “professional profiles that can be part of a majority group that gives the legislative support that the Government of Spain needs.

According to the leadership of the PP, with this campaign committee, Feijóo wants that after the success of the municipal and regional elections held last Sunday, “which have meant a reversal” in the Autonomous Communities and large capitals of the country, and “the verification that the Spaniards are demanding a change”, the PP “does not want to let a minute go by without thoroughly preparing the repeal of sanchismo”.

A change, they say, which means “re-exciting and transforming Spain, through serious policies, reforms and initiatives that place our country where it deserves, and stop occupying the position that the failed policies of the PSOE and its partners have given relegated”.
