The appointment of two former senior government officials to the Constitutional Court, the Supreme Court ruling on the La Aradina players convicted of sexual assault on a minor, and the events at the Melilla fence, are the arguments used by the president of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, to attack, with increasing virulence, against Pedro Sánchez and his government.
The same day that the president of the PP went to Zaragoza to participate in another act within the campaign “In defense of a great country”, Alberto Núñez Feijóo no longer saves qualifications against the president and his government. Paraphrasing Sánchez, who assured on Monday that he will go down in history for having exhumed Franco’s remains, the popular leader assures, in a series of tweets published at noon: “I don’t know how this government will go down in history, but I do know that He will be remembered as the worst in democracy just by reviewing some of his performances”.
Feijóo’s thread on Twitter stops, above all, at the appointment of former minister Juan Carlos Campo and the general director of the presidency of the Sánchez government as magistrates of the Constitutional Court, which the popular leader interprets as “a new assault on institutions, placing a minister and an adviser on the Constitutional Court. Now it is clear why they refused to depoliticize the judiciary and blocked an agreement”.
The agreement that the PP and PSOE had reached for the renewal of the General Council of the Judiciary and the Constitutional Court included that the members of the Government would have to spend a period from when they left office until they could be appointed to form part of the institutions, for which considers that the Government lacks the spirit of what it had already agreed.
But the PP does not stop there and Feijóo places the accent on the Supreme Court ruling on the case of the judges of La Arandina, which increases the sentences but warns that with the Law of yes it is yes it makes them remain in fewer years than what which would be with the previous law, something that the PP has been denouncing and for which it wants the Government to modify the law so that these things cannot happen.
“La Arandina’s is yet another sentence that assumes that sexual offenders do not receive the penalty they would have if the Law of only yes is yes were not in force. There are already dozens who have seen their sentences reduced and the Government continues to refuse to amend his botch job”, Feijóo underlines in another tweet.
The last of the messages from the president of the PP in his complaint about what happened today talks about what happened at the fence in Melilla in July, for which the Minister of the Interior will have to appear tomorrow in Congress. What Feijóo denounces is that another video is going to see the light that once again calls into question the statements of the minister and the President of the Government.
“And a new video is announced for this afternoon that shows that the Minister of the Interior lied to the Spanish and to Congress, and that what happened in Melilla was far from being “well resolved”, as Sánchez said,” says Feijóo.
