Evacuated due to false alarm at Barcelona's North station after finding an abandoned suitcase

The Mossos d’Esquadra evacuated the bus station in the north of Barcelona this afternoon because of a suspicious suitcase left on a bus, which turned out to be a false alarm.

As sources from the Mossos d’Esquadra have informed EFE, the discovery of the suitcase, which a passenger had left on a bus from the station bound for Andalusia, has forced the premises to be evacuated around 6:00 p.m. as a measure. precaution while TEDAX members, with the support of a canine unit of the Catalan police, analyzed the suspicious object and the building.

Once the suitcase was inspected, the police verified that there were only items of clothing inside, so the incident was concluded and the bus station was reopened to the public and traffic.

The abandoned suitcase has forced the Mossos explosives experts to quickly activate, as provided for in the action protocols of the current anti-terrorist alert level, which is four out of a maximum of five.

In accordance with protocol, the coach station has been evacuated, affecting hundreds of passengers waiting to embark on a trip or returning from a coach journey, and the premises have been cordoned off.

As a result of the incident, the buses of lines 1, 2 and 3 of the Moventis SARFA company have circulated with delays, as reported by the company, which has transferred the operation of the vehicles to the nearby Cerdanya and Marina bridges.
