Esquerra Republicana has designated two negotiating teams for everything related to the next legislature of the Congress of Deputies. A first group is made up of the until now leader of the formation in Madrid, Gabriel Rufián, the ex-minister Teresa Jordà and the senator Sara Bailac and will lead the conversations with the socialists and the rest of the groups for the constitution of the Lower House and the election of the Congress Table, the possibility of having their own group, and so on.

For matters of a political nature, leaders of the training will be added to that group of three people, such as the general secretary, Marta Rovira, the ex-Councilor for Territory Juli Fernández, the deputy general secretary and spokesperson in the Parliament, Marta Vilalta, and the president from the Republican group of the Catalan Chamber, Josep Maria Jové.

In this last section there are two aspects, two folders: the first with Junts per Catalunya to try to articulate a common front to jointly negotiate in Madrid the conditions for a possible investiture of Pedro Sánchez, and another to talk with the PSOE about the own investiture later, when it begins to be addressed.

Regarding the talks with Junts, from the Republican formation they point out that the first informal contacts have already taken place, and they hope that in the coming weeks progress will be made on that path after yesterday the president Pere Aragonès and the president of the group of JxCat in the Parliament will be urged to try to articulate the common front with good words. When talking about a hypothetical investiture of Sánchez, ERC has spoken in the campaign of raising the price and has specified all this in maintaining the negotiating table on the conflict and, at the same time, addressing ordinary issues such as the problems of Rodalies or the deficit fiscal.

Former councilor Jordà, who was already a member of Congress before being head of Climate Action in the Catalan Executive, will be the spokeswoman for the Republicans in everything related to the post-electoral negotiation process.

After the general elections last Sunday, in which ERC lost more than 400,000 votes compared to 2019, an electoral bump that adds to that of the municipal elections on May 28, in which the Republicans also left 300,000 voters along the way that gave them support in the previous local elections, this week the formation has launched a process of internal reflection that will conclude at the end of the year, in December.

The Republicans have created five working groups with representatives of the party from the territorial level and also from the sectoral level to address issues such as modernizing the organization. In this work process, an attempt will be made to provide clarity as to why the Republicans lose votes and the trust of the citizenry, about what changes are necessary in the formation, there will be a group dedicated to young people and women, who traditionally were an electorate loyal to ERC and they are no longer so, another on communication and the story of the formation and a fifth on how to turn Esquerra into a 21st century party.

After the appointment of 23-J, Esquerra holds a meeting of the national council tomorrow, the highest decision-making body between congresses.
