SpaceX launched this Saturday, from the Boca Chica base in Texas, the second test of the Starship – the largest and most powerful ship in the world to reach space – with a successful takeoff and separation of the booster and the capsule. An event that failed in the first attempt last April, but that ended again in an explosion minutes later.
The forecast for the Starship rocket, designed to reach the Moon and Mars in the future, and which NASA has for its Artemis program to return to the Moon, was that it would make an almost complete revolution around the Earth, within a period of one hour and a half, before falling into the Pacific, near Hawaii.
However, it ended with an explosion over the Gulf of Mexico when it was about 145 kilometers (90 miles) from Earth.
According to SpaceX, Starship will be a reusable transportation system designed to transport crew and cargo to Earth orbit, the Moon, Mars and beyond.
