“Look at photos of Susana Estrada and you get an idea,” stylist Pau Aulí told director Elena Martín. This is how the idea of ??the striking look germinated with which the filmmaker collected six Gaudí awards this Sunday out of the fifteen for which she was nominated. In satin white, composed of a skirt with a train and gloves by Marta Martí and combined with a cotton top that revealed a bra by Andrés Sardà, the artist made it clear that for her fashion is another tool to express herself.
“I have people around me that I trust a lot, like Paula O’Lee, Raquel Jaroslavsky, Helena Contreras or Eugenia Gusmerini and, when we do something together, I really like that they play, because I believe that fashion is an art beautiful,” the filmmaker, also awarded at the Cannes Directors’ Fortnight, explains to La Vanguardia.
On this occasion, stylist Pau Aulí let his imagination fly and decided to fill Martín’s look with meaning, one that is also related to that feminine sexuality explored in the award-winning film, Creaturas. “He (Aulí) had the idea of ??being inspired by the era of exposure in the 70s, in the style of muses like Susana Estrada and I thought it was very funny,” he admits with a smile when remembering the final result this Monday.
“For me, these types of occasions are an opportunity, on the one hand to have a good time and, on the other, to make a statement,” says the interpreter, who, however, is very respectful of those who do not want to enter this game of industry: “I have learned to value and admire it but I think that everyone has to do what they want, it doesn’t have to interest you.”
She, however, is interested, and is part of a small circle of directors who are committed to giving value to fashion through this type of circuit and being able to generate a debate in them through this art. Proof of this is her styling at the Gaudís, undoubtedly one of the most talked about looks of the night on social media. As usual, with defenders and retractors, in equal parts.
