Next Saturday, March 2, the trains on lines R1 and RG1 of Rodalies de Catalunya will stop again at the Ocata station, in El Masnou (Maresme), as they did before the start of the work being carried out by Renfe. to improve the accessibility of the station.

The next action scheduled for a few weeks will be to put the elevators into service, which will make the station fully accessible, ending the remodeling project and improving the accessibility of the station.

During the time that the works have lasted, Renfe has guaranteed the mobility of travelers who usually used this station with a shuttle bus service between the Ocata and El Masnou stations. Thus, users have been able to travel on the trains of lines R1 and RG1 both towards Barcelona and towards the north.

Renfe has invested 3.7 million euros (VAT included) in the adaptation of the station to make it fully accessible, within the framework of the Transformem Rodalies Plan. The work, of great complexity due to its proximity to the sea and to make it compatible without having to interrupt the circulation of trains, has consisted mainly of the construction of an underground vestibule.

In addition to the installation of new elevators that will soon directly connect the lobby and platforms, their renovation, the installation of new access controls, new canopies and the improvement of general lighting.

The action has also allowed the creation of an underpass to reach the promenade and the beach through a ramp that guarantees accessibility.
