Agents belonging to the Nature Protection Service of the Civil Guard Command have managed to identify and investigate eight young people, seven of them minors, due to a forest fire registered on July 24 in the Tiburón cove in San Martín Valdeiglesias, an area that has a ZEPA degree of protection, and that affected about 25 square meters of holm oak and vegetation.

These are seven 17-year-old boys and an 18-year-old boy who are accused of reckless arson. In the visual inspection carried out once the place had cooled down, a hookah, remains of carbon pellets, lighters and a stove were located, elements that were found at the source of the fire.

The young people were identified by the Villamanta Nature Protection Service Patrol, which was patrolling the boat due to the prevention device that the Civil Guard has established in Madrid.

Thanks to the boat they were able to access the area, whose orography makes it difficult to access the place on foot. The rapid action of the extinguishing media of the Community of Madrid prevented the fire from escalating. In any case, the fire affected about 25 square meters of oak and vegetation.

The Civil Guard have reminded that it is forbidden to use fire in forest areas, and therefore, it is recommended not to use barbecues and other mechanisms that produce flame. Likewise, smoking is also prohibited in areas at risk of forest fires.
