There is much debate about the Christmas lights that decorate the streets and squares of our cities. We talked about whether it is worth the expense and alternatives appear, such as LED lights, which help minimize electricity consumption. But what about the manger?

There are more and more people who are switching to eco-mangers, that is, they make mangers at home with natural and often recycled materials, such as cardboard, paper or container lids that, before going to the container, have a new life as materials for make the traditional Christmas nativity scene.

There are many ideas that can be applied in eco-mangers, which in addition to being more respectful of the environment, awaken our creativity. For example, by stacking two or three balls of white yarn you can create snowmen to decorate our homemade nativity scene.

Also with other materials that we have at home, such as matches or toothpicks, we can make the characters of our ecological nativity scene.

In these photographs in La Vanguardia Readers’ Photos I am going to show you three models of eco-mangers created with elements from nature and the garden in the Pedralbes monastery in Barcelona.

The fungus Inonotus hispidus, a vine mushroom, in the Pedralbes monastery in Barcelona, ??is drying, has an intense yellow powder and has reminded me of the cave of Bethlehem.

Natural elements give shape to an eco-manger. The figure of the baby Jesus and the Virgin are made of herbs from the country of Africa, very appropriate with the current situation of the arrival of cayucos, therefore, it is an ecological nativity scene that refers us to a Christmas of solidarity.

Contemplating a small piece of red pepper in the kitchen, an ecological nativity scene occurred to me, a Christmas representation incorporating sustainable, environmentally friendly materials.

In this way, we give a new opportunity to what is disposable, a piece of pepper as a representation of the cave and its seeds as the straw from the cradle of Bethlehem.

Sustainable digitalization is the ability to influence the improvement of sustainability through digital transformation. What if we simply created and had a virtual nativity scene at home?

It is estimated that digital technologies can contribute to reducing global CO2 emissions and, for example, contribute to reducing the use of paper.

I have managed to create, using photographic technique, a Christmas Nativity scene with an abstract style in the surroundings of the ancient cloister of the Pedralbes monastery.

In the last photograph I have reversed it with a more modern touch, as you can see in these images.
