Early warning for a sunken boat in Port Ginesta in Sitges that spills fuel

The two crew members of a motor boat that partially sank this Sunday in Port Ginesta, in the Barcelona town of Sitges, have been rescued while Civil Protection has activated the CAMCAT plan in the pre-alert phase since the ship is losing diesel.

The event took place about fifteen meters from the beach, on the Port Ginesta breakwater, where the ship was listed, Civil Protection sources have informed EFE. The two crew members have been rescued by helicopter by Maritime Rescue.

The same sources have explained that the strong waves and the wind that blows in the area have prevented the placement of the marine barriers that help to delimit the spills at sea and that the boat has a diesel leak that is leaving a fuel stain on the water surface.
