Little royal herons have been born in Ter. From the viewpoint of the Meandre del Despujol in Les Masies de Voltregà, in Osona, you can observe the scene in the nests that are on the other shore, already in the municipality of Torelló.

Gray herons breed in colonies, usually in tall trees near water. In this area, specifically, they take advantage of the River Ter.

Nests start out as a small platform of sticks, but can end up being a huge mass of accumulated material.

The gray heron is a slender, long-necked and long-legged waterbird with mainly gray plumage. It lives in rivers, lakes and all kinds of fresh and brackish water wetlands.

The gray herons arrived punctually, like every year, at the end of winter, and just at the beginning of spring the first young are already seen. In the video in Las Fotos de los Lectores de La Vanguardia you can see three little newborns.
