A joint operation between the National Police and the Mossos d’Esquadra has broken up in Vilassar de Dalt and Castelldefels a group that produced and distributed marijuana in other European countries. The agents have dismantled three plantations in these towns and have arrested seven people, six of whom have already entered prison, charged with the crimes of documentary falsification, public health, belonging to a criminal organization and electrical fraud.

The investigation into this case began last October, when police officers detected a group of people who allegedly grew and produced indoor marijuana that was later exported in buds. During the process, drones were used to detect thermal activity and locate the rooms where the plants were. In addition, there were also measurements of energy consumption in these homes, registering a fraud of €600,000, and it was possible to confirm the use of false pay slips to contract the rental of these homes.

Finally, the agents accounted for and seized 1,583 marijuana plants and 28 kg of buds ready for distribution, along with all kinds of material used to produce, dry, and distribute the drug, including two vehicles. It is at that moment that the security forces also arrested the seven people. However, police sources affirm that the investigation is still open and that new arrests are not ruled out.

Police sources indicate that the methods used by this gang are becoming more common by criminal groups of this type. The producers legalize the rental of the properties, either with real documentation through third parties or falsified. This allows the possibility of not being easily detected at the beginning and consequently increasing the time spent on these floors and obtaining a greater production of marijuana.
