Today, in La Vanguardia Readers’ Photos, I show another work by Gustave Eiffel, the famous engineer of the well-known Eiffel Tower in Paris, which is located in a very central place in Reus, on Sant Llorenç street, near Plaza Prim, in the recently inaugurated Espai Mil Nou, a contemporary art gallery that has in its logo the construction of the iron column and beam between the Eiffel fence.

The building is owned by the Padrell family, known as the Padrell de la hazelnut, and its history dates back to the time of industrial Reus in 1906. On the ground floor of this building where the Eiffel iron beams and columns are located , there was the old warehouse that housed all the machinery necessary for the nut trade.

These beams and columns are very well preserved and painted, maintaining their original charm from the beginning of the 20th century.

This art space is managed by the Carles Amill Cultural Initiatives Association, which has the ArtAmill gallery/boutique as its headquarters, which is located in the town of Vinyols and els Arcs, and which in recent years has held various exhibitions. and cultural activities.

From December 1, 2023, the date on which it was inaugurated, this space becomes a meeting point for contemporary art with the city of Reus.

Without a doubt, Eiffel’s company carried out several constructions throughout Catalonia and in Reus it did a few. It is one more cultural heritage that we have in our city, and in this case today it serves to create a welcoming environment for art.

The timeless art of Eiffel now becomes a place that houses an art gallery, with samples of the latest artistic and cultural trends of the 21st century always alive and constantly evolving.
