Ricardo de Burgos Bengoetxea, from the Basque Committee, has been the referee appointed to direct the Barcelona-Real Madrid classic this Sunday, a match of the twenty-sixth day of LaLiga Santander that will be played at 9:00 p.m. at the Spotify Camp Nou.
The Bilbao referee, who turns 37 this Thursday, will direct his third clásico, the first in the league and the second in just two months, after directing the last Spanish Super Cup in Saudi Arabia that Barcelona won 3-1.
The first precedent dates back to August 13, 2017, when De Burgos Bengoetxea refereed Real Madrid’s 3-1 win at the Camp Nou, a game in which he sent off the Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo for a double yellow card in an action that ended with a push from the Portuguese to the referee and the suspension of the striker for five games.
In total, he has refereed Barcelona in 25 games, which he has won all but four defeats and one draw, and Real Madrid in twenty, with wins in fourteen, three games lost and three draws.
