Communal showers, shared toilets without soap or toilet paper; rooms without keys; absence of cleaning, laundry or catering service….

These are some of the conditions denounced by the professors who are members of the High School examination courts in the specialty of Geography and History, housed by the Department of Education in a student residence in Huesca. A lodging that they consider inadequate for not meeting minimum requirements for the correct performance of their functions.

For this reason, those affected demand to be located in a hotel in the capital of Huesca like the rest of the members of courts of other specialties during the time that the exam correction lasts. If the administration does not attend to your request “as soon as possible”, they warn in a letter that on June 26 they will not begin “the corresponding readings and corrections of the opposition tests”.

As they explained, at the beginning of the month they were informed in a meeting with the director of the Provincial Service, Amparo Roig, that this situation would be punctual for Friday the 16th, the day before the opposition was held.

The reason given was that all the hotel beds in Huesca were occupied on that date as a cycling competition (the Bearded Vulture), the city Film Festival and the Bob Dylan concert coincided on the same weekend, which finale was canceled due to rain. However, they were later informed that this situation would continue throughout the entire process, which lasts about a month.

According to the newspaper Heraldo de Aragón, the day before the test they held an emergency meeting between the members of the 11 courts, in which there was a threat of planting, although it was finally decided to make an appearance so as not to harm the opponents.

But after that time, they demand a change with the threat of not starting the fixes. “We ask for minimum accommodation conditions that the IES Pirámide student residence does not have”, they pointed out in their note, in which they clarify that they only ask for a treatment similar to that of other courts of other specialties also convened in Huesca. “If we are responsible for a selection process in which hundreds of people apply for a job in public education, we have to be guaranteed adequate circumstances to be able to carry out our work correctly,” they added.

For its part, the Department of Education of the Government of Aragon has clarified that it is trying to solve the problem, which they hope to solve “in a couple of days”.
