The PSOE denounced last night that the president of Castilla y León, Alfonso Fernández Mañueco (PP), carried out what is colloquially known as a peineta -raise the middle finger with the palm of the hand inward- while a socialist attorney defended in plenary session de las Cortes an initiative to help people with celiac disease.
It was the Secretary of Organization of the PSOE of Castilla y León and Second Vice President of the Parliament, Ana Sánchez, who made this complaint on her Twitter account, attaching the image of this moment from the EFE Agency.
During the morning plenary session, the socialist attorney, Rosa Rubio, took the stand of the regional parliament to defend an initiative to enable aid for celiac people. Rubio, at the beginning of her speech, reproached the president that, while she was speaking, he was outside his seat chatting with the Junta’s Agriculture Minister, Gerardo Dueñas, which for this attorney demonstrates his lack of respect for people who suffer from this disease.
At that moment, the president decided to leave the chamber and on his way to the exit and with his back to the socialist attorney, he made the gesture captured by EFE. This complaint by Ana Sánchez has been replicated by several socialist leaders on the same social network.
Rosa Rubio, in statements to RNE, has labeled Mañueco’s gesture as “arrogant and tacky” and has charged the president for his “lack of respect” for the Castilian-Leonese people and celiacs. For the socialist attorney, it is “very clear” that it is a comb. “If it is natural for him to do combs in the hemicycle, he has a real problem”, she has concluded.
