The crime of the 34-year-old woman occurred after 2:30 p.m. this Saturday, in a house at Plaza Martínez Flamarique number 1, where the couple, in whom there were no previous complaints, resided with their three children. minors.

This is the first case of sexist violence registered in the community of La Rioja in the last 13 years. So far, seven women have been murdered in the province since the Ministry of Equality has data. Two took place in 2003 and two in 2008. The other three are from 2004, 2009 and the last one recorded to date took place in 2020 —still under investigation in the courts.

According to police sources, the event became known when a call was received in Room 091 from a citizen reporting that a man had thrown himself into the Ebro river near the Cuarto Puente in Logroño.

According to some local media, which refer to the testimony of witnesses, before, the man would have also tried to throw his three children into the river -two girls and a boy, between 7 and 11 years old-, something that he did not achieve in power. escaped the smallest of them, who managed to raise the alarm.

After rescuing the attacker, two National Police patrols spoke with the man, who could have recognized his crime, explaining to the police that he could have left his wife dead at their home in Plaza Martínez Flamarique.

For this reason, agents of the Judicial Police and the Logroño Local Police have gone to the home, opening the door where they found a bleeding woman, deceased at home.

The victim was 34 years old, while the perpetrator, who has been arrested, is a 44-year-old man, both of Syrian origin.

Local and National Police teams have been working at the scene for several hours. Finally, around 5:45 p.m., the body was removed and the funeral services were able to remove the victim’s body.
