Conquest Ferrari squad adds Serra for Detroit IMSA GTD Pro class entry

Eric Bachelart’s team is set to make a significant move as they join the Detroit SportsCar Classic without a pro-am GTD class presence at the event. This decision comes as the team prepares to compete in the 100-minute sprint race on 1 June with their Ferrari 296 GT3. Regular driver Albert Costa will be accompanied by Brazilian Serra, a two-time Le Mans GTE Pro class winner, in this exciting race.

“I am very happy to be returning to racing in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, and for the first time with Conquest Racing,” said Serra, a three-time Brazilian Stock Car champion. “We are putting in the work to be very well prepared for the weekend in Detroit, and doing all we can in hopes of achieving a great result.”

The move to the downtown street course around the Renaissance Center, the global home of General Motors, marks a shift from the Belle Isle Park location where the premier class has raced for over a decade. The tight circuit promises an exciting challenge for the drivers.

The Conquest Racing team, which competes in the full season in the pro-am class with Manny Franco alongside Costa, is excited about the opportunity to showcase their skills in the GTD Pro class. Costa expressed his enthusiasm about sharing the car with Serra and the potential for a strong performance in the upcoming race.

In addition to Conquest Racing, Vasser Sullivan will also be fielding a second Lexus RC F in the pro-am class, further adding to the competition in the GTD Pro category. With a total of 21 cars set to compete, including 10 GTP class entrants, the race promises to be a thrilling event for fans.

Team owner Bachelart expressed his gratitude to Corsa Horizon for their support in this new chapter for Conquest Racing in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. The team is eager to make their mark in the GTD Pro class and continue their growth and dedication in the championship.

As the teams gear up for the Detroit IMSA GTD Pro class entry, anticipation is high for an action-packed race that will showcase the skills and determination of the drivers and teams involved.
