The Barcelona City Council has updated salaries, a measure that will be approved next Friday in the plenary session of the portfolio. After 12 years of freezing, the mayor Jaume Collboni will raise his salary by 4% and will earn 104,000 euros per year.
Within the open negotiation with all the groups with representation in the Barcelona City Council, with the exception of VOX, the representatives of the PSC, Comuns, ERC and Junts will share the presidencies of four commissions.
The socialist Albert Batlle will direct the Presidency, Security and Internal Regime with Maria Eugènia Gay, also from the PSC, as vice president. For her part, Janet Sanz (Barcelona en Comú) will be in charge of Ecology, Urban Planning, Mobility and Housing with Laia Bonet (PSC) in the vice-presidency.
The Committee on Social Rights, Culture and Sports will be chaired by Jordi Castellana (ERC) and the Committee on Economy and Finance will be led by Francina Vila (Junts), who will have the socialist Raquel Gil as vice-chairman.
The agreement between groups provides for an update of 4% of salaries for both members of the Government and the opposition, which coincides with what is provided for in Royal Decree-Law 18/2022, of October 18, 2022, which allowed for a 1.5% increase in remuneration to the public sector, and the General State Budget Law for 2023, which allows for a 2.5% increase in remuneration to the public sector.
“This is an agreed, reasonable, prudent and responsible proposal, taking into account that remuneration in the political sphere has been frozen in the last 12 years,” they say from the Barcelona City Council.
