Colau and Asens return to Catalonia after a failed mission in the Liberty Flotilla

Frustrated journey of two recognized faces of the commons. The former mayor of Barcelona, ??Ada Colau; and former deputy Jaume Asens, will return to Catalonia after a new delay in the departure of the Freedom Flotilla, which wanted to take humanitarian material to Gaza.

This was confirmed this Friday by the Comuns Sumar candidate for the presidency of the Generalitat, Jéssica Albiach. “Yesterday night we were notified of a new delay for the Flotilla. I can announce that Ada Colau and Jaume Asens will return to Barcelona today,” she said. Albiach has reported that they did not even have a clear delivery date for “key” humanitarian material for Palestine. Both were in Türkiye waiting to leave with the Flotilla.

The commoners were waiting for the return of two of their political figures to join the 12-M campaign. They were cautious in the timing, perhaps in the last week, aware that the humanitarian mission could have an uncertain path. “When they come, they will join,” Comuns Sumar sources explained last week.

Events have been precipitated by delays in the Freedom Flotilla. Thus, they will finally join the events planned by Comuns Sumar sooner than expected. In a press conference held at the EFE agency, Albiach assured that Colau and Asens will have an “important role” in the 12-M campaign.
