The dismantling of a crane in the rehabilitation works of the Torres de Colón will lead this weekend, between Friday night and early Monday morning, to the closure of traffic on Génova Street, the Madrid City Council has reported in a statement. .
The affected section is Monte Esquinza Street and Recoletos Paseo, in both directions of the road. The road closure will take place starting at 10 p.m. on Friday and is expected to end at 6 a.m. on Monday, January 15.
To reduce traffic incidents, traffic closures will be signaled in both directions of the road and alternative routes will be proposed.
The first of them, to access Paseo de la Castellana, will be through Almagro and Zurbarán streets, while the second, also to access Castellana, will be through Monte Esquinza and Alcalá Galiano. To access Génova street, it is proposed to drive along Paseo de la Castellana and Fernando El Santo and Zurbano streets.
The dismantling tasks will be carried out when the entire area is cordoned off in order to hinder the circulation of road and pedestrian traffic to the minimum essential extent. The entrances and exits of residential buildings will remain open at all times.
Parking reserves for people with reduced mobility will be temporarily moved to the nearest mass parking lots and the usual pedestrian crossings will be maintained, at least 50 percent wide.
The traffic cut will guarantee, whenever possible, the reestablishment of commercial activities in the affected area once the work to be carried out each day of occupation of the public road has been completed.
