As the last of the roughly 2,000 individuals living at Floyd Bennett Field departed over the weekend, the dismantling of the encampment began. However, the closure proceeded smoothly, with residents like Jehinzo Gonzalez, a Venezuelan migrant, expressing relief at moving to a more dignified shelter with improved living conditions for his family.

Gabriel Montilla, another migrant from Venezuela, shared the challenges of navigating the city to meet various obligations after being relocated to a hotel in Queens. The frigid weather adds an additional layer of difficulty to their daily routines.
