Ciudadanos starts the campaign today with polls that do not grant it representation and with the objective, therefore, of maintaining part of the electorate that in 2021 granted it 6 seats in the Parliament. The candidacy of Carlos Carrizosa thus puts the focus on the borders with the PP and the PSC, and they especially want to face the eventual growth of the popular ones. For this reason, from the beginning of the pre-campaign, the orange formation insists that in the future horizon it considers “a rapprochement between the party of Alberto Núñez Feijóo and that of Carles Puigdemont.”

Ciudadanos has recovered the iconography of 2017, the one with which it managed to win the regional elections with 36 deputies, with the idea of ??pointing out that the process is still in force, that “nothing has changed in Catalonia and that nothing is going to change” even if the candidate manages to govern. of the PSC, Salvador Illa. This is an attempt to convey the idea that both the socialist leader and the PP candidate, Alejandro Fernández, are at the service of the PSOE and PP projects in Spain, and therefore with the “need to forge alliances with the independence movement.” as noted from this match.

Likewise, and in this defense of the electoral borders with the PP, Ciudadanos considers that the rapprochement with Junts will occur as the popular ones try to distance themselves from Vox. “The objective, in the end, – it is indicated – will be to reissue a Majestic pact.”

Carrizosa’s candidacy tries to reach the electorate by launching drastic and clear messages – such as, for example, “stop them” – that refers to Sánchez and Puigdemont. It is, it is noted, an appeal to “citizen action.” Furthermore, we want to emphasize, in reference to this return to the messages of 2017, the need to promote a new policy, which “breaks with the clientelistic networks of the Generalitat administration that leaves the majority of Catalans outside.”

Ciudadanos also highlights that it was the PP that did not want to form a “constitutionalist coalition” to try to push for change in Catalonia. With the objective set above all in the Barcelona constituency, Carrizosa will try to convey the message that Catalonia needs Ciudadanos, not only to turn the page but also because of “the mark that it has left in recent years and that it must continue to leave.”
